Visual content has the power to transport you to a different world, provide you with much-needed entertainment or educate you on things you otherwise wouldn’t have known. From TV shows, to Youtube channels and films of note, here are a few recommendations to add to your list:

Prison Break

Prison Break is an American serial drama which revolves around the story of two brothers, Lincoln and Michael. The show follows Lincoln's journey after he is sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit and his brother Michael tries to break him out of prison - by committing armed robbery in order to be sent to the same prison where Lincoln is. While Prison Break can drag out storylines from time to time, it has great one-liners, a lot of plot twists and some very memorable characters that'll have you on the edge of your seat.

Conversation With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

Ted Bundy was an American serial killer who is known for the death of more than 30 women. There's been a lot of mentions regarding his personality, often defining Bundy as a charismatic and attractive man - two traits which made his sickening crimes successful. The docuseries discusses Bundy's motives and analyzes his life using audio recordings and actual archival footage that were created when Bundy was on death row. A must watch for crime fanatics.

Money Heist

Money Heist, or La casa de papel, is a Spanish crime drama series which centers around a criminal mastermind known as The Professor and his team. The Professor has one goal in mind: to print billions in the Royal Mint of Spain as he pulls off the largest heist in world history with the help of other criminals he has recruited. The show is interesting because The Professor is a likeable character and you find yourself rooting for the 'bad guy'. The criminals, whom all go by city names, are a hot mess which makes for great entertainment as romance, illnesses and familial ties complicate the heist.

Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is an American medical drama series which focuses on the lives of employees in a hospital and the complicated decisions they must take in order to further their careers. The characters are incredibly loveable, but the show is on it's 16th season so expect certain storylines to drag out for much longer than necessary. The show also sheds light on the American healthcare system, as well as many sociopolitical issues that are happening in the United States.

The Winx Club

The Winx Club is an Italian-American animated series. It falls under the fantasy and adventure genres and revolves around a group of friends who are able to turn into fairies in order to fight against villains. The creator of the show, Iginio Straffi, wanted to introduce female leads and even hired Italian fashion designers to help create outfits for the fairies.

Bed-Ins for Peace

Bed-Ins for Peace is a documentary by Yoko Ono and John Lennon which captures the experience of a non-violent protest against wars. Ono and Lennon used their wedding (which was sure to make headlines) as an opportunity in order to promote peace during the Vietnam War in 1969. They held a Bed-Ins for Peace for two weeks in order to experiment how peace could be promoted. The Bed-Ins took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Montreal, Canada.

Dune is a 1984 SciFi adventure film by David Lynch and based on Frank Herbert's novel. The plot centers around an incredibly valuable spice known as melange. The film takes place in a universe in the year 10191 and centers around two rival families and the classic good versus evil fight in a battle for control of territory and melange.

Tiger King

You're probably already familiar with this quarantine classic, but in case you're not, Tiger King is a 2020 Netflix show that follows the story of a man called Joe Exotic. Joe is an animal enthusiast - specifically, he enjoys cats. We're not talking pets though, we're talking tigers (although to Joe there seems to be little difference). The show has gained a lot of attention due to it's incredibly eccentric characters and also how it ironically doesn't seem to have that much to do with the actual tigers.

Bollywood, or Hindi Cinema, consists of a variety of Indian television series, films and musicals. The film industry is based in Mumbai, India and while Bollywood is often referred to as Indian Cinema, it largely concentrates on the Hindi language movie industry.

What's interesting is that the professional relationship of the detectives is sometimes impacted by their personal backgrounds. The show's storylines are based on novels by Elizabeth George.

Jonathan Creek

This British comedy-crime drama follows the life of Jonathan Creek, a man who creates magic tricks. He uses his special skills in order to solve murder mysteries with the help of his assistant. Youtube: Self-development videos, Sims 4 and Ava Jules

From learning how to cook new recipes, finding new ways to take care of yourself and how to relieve stress, Youtube is an incredible resource. We're just obsessed, okay?

Dr. Doolittle 3

Dr. Doolittle is an American family and comedy movie which stars Eddie Murphy as a man with a special talent: he is able to talk to animals. Dr. Doolittle 3 revolves around Murphy's daughter in the movie, who inherits her father's talents and uses it to stop a ranch from closing. We enjoy it because though it's a little cheesy, it's got that typical family-comedy humor and which is a definite pick me up during times like these.

The Possession of Hannah Grace

This American horror and thriller movie stars Shay Mitchell (you may know her as Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars) and it is about the aftermath of an exorcism which ends up taking the life of a woman. A morgue worker discovers a body and has visions which make her believe that it is being possessed by a demon. A little creepy, a little cool and a whole lot of supernatural shit that we personally would never want to encounter.

The News

We hate it due to current world events but we can't stop watching. Maybe not the best to binge, but definitely tune in every so often just to check in on the world and see how you can play your part in the Covid crisis.

How To Get Away With Murder

Annalise Keating is an excellent criminal defense lawyer whose students look up to her - and maybe that's part of the problem. This American drama series / legal thriller stars Viola Davis as the lead and five of her students who end up becoming involved in a murder case. It's worth the watch if you're interested in mystery shows and love a show that actually tells a story. It's engaging and builds suspense really well.

This Is Us is an American drama series which tells the story of three siblings in different time frames of their lives as they aim to heal from a tragedy. The Social Network

This American drama and biographical film takes a look at the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg (creator of Facebook) and his friend Eduardo Saverin who helped him with it. Facebook is a social networking site that aims to connect people and the film shows how it all started. The film is loosely based on true events and doesn't feature anyone who helped to create it, but roughly tells the story of the power of social media and connection.
